January 2003
Dear Friends,
Greetings from northern Saskatchewan, Canada!
Welcome back to my web page. This has been a very eventful
year. In May the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s show On the
Road Again with Wayne Rostad was down filming my studio and my beloved
Pinkney Lake; the show aired in October 2002. The whole experience
was very rewarding. They were wonderful people to work with and I was very
pleased with the outcome.

In September I made my last painting trip for the year
and camped for a week. The air was so clear that one could almost count
the trees on the far hills. All the colors were brilliant, especially the
blues of the skies. They seem to go on into infinity and the clouds
seemed close enough to touch.
It was very cold for painting. I warmed the paint
box over the heater in the camper at night and it lasted for about five
hours before the oil paint got too cold to use. The water was frozen around
the shore lines of the lakes in the mornings but melted about noon. Usually
there are geese, swans and ducks jostling for a place on the lakes but
this September it was very quiet and still.
I am now working in the studio sorting and photographing
the summer’s plain air paintings and deciding which ones will be used as
inspiration for larger works and which ones will be framed for the Thickwood
Hills Studio Trail days, in August 2003.
The plans for the next few months are to set the studio
up for screen-printing. I would like it to be a permanent part of my studio.
I am interested in doing some art prints. I have seen so much that I think
would lend it self to screen printing, especially the nature in the spring
before all the snow has left and also in the fall after the leaves has
fallen. Also, I would like to do some larger oil paintings based
on my summer sketches.
Rigmor Clarke.
